Boost to Bologna Children’s Book Fair Digital Strand 2014

We’ve just arrived in sunny Bologna, Italy ahead of our Digital Masterclass this Tuesday 25th March with Pubcoder: How to Animate your Children’s Story – details are here and there’s still time to sign up if you’re at the Fair this week.

Our Digital Masterclass is just one of a great set of events programmed this year by the organisers of Bologna Book Fair extending their digital strand. Other events in the digital strand include:

Sunday 23rd March: 3pm – 6.30pm – Sala Concerto

Generation Remix – Dust or Magic MasterClass, in association with Children’s Tech Review.

An intensive 3 hour workshop on the design of narrative driven interactive products, with case study sessions from market leaders Touch Press and Nosy Crow and a spotlight session on the 2014 BolognaRagazzi Digital Award winners, plus a discussion of key influential products in children’s interactive publishing determined by this year’s jurors for the prize.

As well as getting invaluable insight from the market leaders, delegates will leave with the tools needed to apply this knowledge and will get a copy of the handbook, Child Development 101 for the Designers of Children’s Interactive Media.

Speakers: John Cromie from Touch Press, Kate Wilson from Nosy Crow, introduced by Warren Buckleitner (Chairman of the BolognaRagazzi Digital Award and founder of Dust or Magic) and by Neal Hoskins, digital consultant for the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.

Digital kids between transmedia experience and market trends in association with TISP, Editech and AIE (Associazione Italiana Editori)

As the borders between playing, reading and learning are narrowing and new forms of storytelling get in the hands of new generations, children behaviour towards digital technologies keeps evolving, affecting products, strategies and workflows.

But how? What’s the relationship between children and digital reading? Which are the trends in terms of discovery, pricing, and activities in children publishing? How do the publishing and ICT world collaborate in order to offer the most engaging, interactive and fulfilling experience possible?

The TISP project, in collaboration with Editech, aims to answer some of these questions.

The workshop will feature the results of #NatiDigitali, a survey on the relationship between children and digital reading in Italy and up-to-date trends in children books and ebooks with a particular reference to the European market from Nielsen Book.  Publishers and developers will discuss the issues and strengths of their partnerships and collaborations that have brcought digital products to market.

Speakers include: Ann Betts (Nielsen Book International), Mike Gaunt (Go Mad Kids), Irene Angelopulos (Mubo), Giulio Caperdoni (Vidiemme), Sameer Reina (Magic Box) and Elena Favilli (Timbuktu).

Free, but registration is required.
