The zehnSeiten (German for ten pages) app was developed to introduce readers to new writers. The app promotes the writers through simple black and white videos which feature them reading ten pages from their latest novels.
Available both online and as an iPhone app, the videos feature recordings of authors sitting at a table, with a glass of water, reading from their works. The focus is deliberately placed on the author and the videos range in length from ten to thirty minutes, featuring work from a variety of publishers including Suhrkamp, the publishers of Herman Hesse.
New recordings are added weekly. zehnSeiten was the brainchild of five friends from Munich.
